I was born in an old beautiful Russian city Archangelsk. Who have ever been or lived in the North know very well that it is very special place. Severe and modest nature, long and dark winters and short summers teach you to be more attentive to beauty, notice and remember the smallest details and rare moments.
What can be more beautiful than dazzling shine the diamond sparkles of the frost patterns on the winter windows!
How you forget that stupefying (дурманящий) intoxicating smells in the forest and bogs that invisibly enrich pictures of the beauty with strong feelings.
We learned to value that modest presents that the nature of the North give sometimes to the people that live that grey climate.
They are not spoiled by the brightness of the Southern lands so they always ready to admire to the miracles of Nature.
Drawing was always my most exciting (thrilling) occupation. I am a primarily self taught artist. I mostly learned by observing and developed my skills by practice.
During my studying forestry at the Technical Institute at the Forestry department I made a great deal of scientific illustrations. I also created pictures for a book about forest melioration for the professor of the University.
I love to make sketches of all kinds of dances. My favorite are ballet, flamenco and dances of different nationalities. The best of drawings were displayed at the city exhibitions. When I was at the second grade of the Institute I had hepatitis. Being in the hospital I used numerous patients and doctors as my models. Most of them got their portraits as presents as well as I had a copy for my memory about them.
Later I was hired by a local magazine to make for them fine drawings of people in the costumes of the beginning of the 19th century.
After my graduation I moved farther North to the Solovki Archipelago in the White Sea. There I worked at the Historical Architectural and Nature museum-reserve as a research worker at the biological department. Many gifted artists live in Solovki or visit the islands. This remarkable place as well as those gifted people inspired me to continue working at creating peaces of art. Living at such a wonderful place was impossible not to draw the fabulous landscapes and timeless architecture.
After 10 years I moved to Moscow one of the most beautiful
city in the world. This fabulous city enriched me tremendously. I had precious opportunity to learn by observation shedeures the greatest old and modern masters of the priceless museums and palaces. I enjoyed walking in gorgeous parks and strolling in the oldest streets admiring remarkable architecture.
Living in Moscow I enjoy teaching drawing with pencils and pen and ink. I had lots of talented students among the kids and adults.
Ten years ago I moved to the United States. It gave me new opportunity to develop my artistic skills. I had the honor to study multimedia and web design at the Denver Art Institute. During my studying I worked for an Art Agents supporting their website and creating web pages for the talents. I also framed their pictures, made giclée prints, designed pages at the annual books and did many other things.
After I finished my school I got married and moved to Colorado Springs. By chance I met Verna Versa a brilliant artist from this city. We became friends. She brought me to the Cottonwood center of the Arts where we practices drawing models at the life seccions. This wonderful woman opened some of her valuable secrets of successful drawing. This kindest woman and a brilliant artist is not among us any more but we’ll keep her in our memories for many years. I met a lot of great people at the Cottonwood so it was easy decision to get here a studio and to be more involved in the art life of my new place of living.
